Carol, now aged 39, started her TV career in 1982 at the age of 21 co-hosting Channel 4's countdown. 18 years, 40 series and over 2,500 episodes later, Carol is still with the top rating show, calmly calling out the consonants and the vowels and quickly solving the mathematical conundrums.

As well as being involved in a new series of 'Find a Fortune' and 'Better Homes', recording 255 episodes of Countdown a year, collaborating on a range of children's teaching books, writing a weekly Internet for 'The Mirror' and hosting this years 'Pride of Britain Awards... Carol will also be involved in a celebrity version of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?'

Carol Vorderman is a very busy woman, yet according to the woman herself, she wouldn't have it any other way:
"I am driven. Why, I don't know. But underlying everything is the fact that I love what I do. I fight hard for anything I'm involved in and to be the best it can be. I speak my mind - nicely! - and I'll always go the extra mile or ten.."

Whatever the secret to her success (which according to one journalist is because, "She's attractive and personable and undoubtedly demands respect."), Carol's career has blossomed, especially in the last couple of years. She has remarked that this is down to her detox diet and healthy way of living resulting in her new figure and new found energy:

"I feel better now than I have ever felt. I have so much energy. I also feel confident about who I am. That's the great thing about turning 40 which I will this year - you don't get so hung up when things start sagging a bit."

Find a Fortune

'Find a Fortune' is a live studio show presented by Carol and assisted by a team of studio telephonists and intrepid reporters who are out on the road tracking down misguided fortunes.

As a nation we have collectively mislaid 18.5 billion pounds. Last summer 'Find a Fortune' reunited £5.5 million of that money with its rightful owners and the nice surprise was that the rightful owners had no idea of their windfall.
